Accomplishments

2011—9th grade students graduate from Christel House Mexico and proceed to junior-work-study program while attending high school or technical school
2011 —Ten students represent Christel House Mexico at state martial arts tournament and win 1st, 2nd and 3rd places
2011 – Top performing students invited to tour Mexico’s National Palace
2011 – Eleven upper school students participate in Model United National exercises with students from Alexander von Humbolt German School
2011 – Christel House Mexico’s food service department receives award of excellence. It is the first school in Mexico to receive this award
2010 – Christel House Mexico hosts high profile guests including Mexico’s First Lady, Margarita Zavala, and representatives of Mexico’s Ministry of Education
2010 – Choir students perform for First Lady Michelle Obama during her spring visit
2009 and 2010 – 100% of grade 9 students graduate from Christel House and proceed to junior work-study while attending high school or technical schools
October 2008 – Christel House Mexico celebrates 10th anniversary
2007-Christel House Mexico ranks in top 10% of all public schools in Mexico, based on results of ENLACE, Mexico's national standardized test
2006-Students Estephany and Tannia attend the Culver Summer Leadership Camp in Culver, Indiana on full scholarships
2005-Christel House students illustrate poems written by blind students, and a book of their collaborative work is published
2004-Conversion to a full-day, fully accredited school
2002-Indianapolis Mayor, Bart Peterson, and a group of Indianapolis firefighters visit learning center
2000-Seven students attend International Peace Camp at Forest Glen Elementary School in Indianapolis
1999-St. Vincent Hospital's medical staff in Indianapolis repair student Maribel's cleft palate and facial scars from childhood abuse
1999-First Christel House volunteer trip with 137 volunteers providing medical services, cultural exchange and educational activities
1998-Christel DeHaan visits two Mexico City orphanages and develops the Christel House model
